Monarch Butterfly Educator Workshop
Registration Deadline Approaching
WILMINGTON (June 27, 2011) – Educators interested in attending Alapocas Run State Park’s free Monarch Butterfly Workshop, an integrated, standards-based workshop proven to have positive effects on learning must register by July 1. The workshop will be held August 2 – 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Blue Ball Barn.
Workshop study will include habitat and ecosystems, language arts enrichment, cultural knowledge extension, and in-school and onsite teaching techniques. Each educator will learn appropriate scientific methods and experimentation based on arthropod curriculum, how to identify plants that provide basic needs for living organisms, how to select and provide language arts and other cross-curricular materials to deliver standards-based programs, and to assess the global impact (on both human and natural worlds) of monarch conservation.
This training is provided through a partnership between the Red Clay Consolidated School District Science Curriculum Coordinator, Alapocas Run and Wilmington State Parks, New Castle County Extension Master Gardeners, The Friends of Wilmington Parks and The Delaware Nature Society.
