Nature Programs Offered in December
Visit the Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve
Nature enthusiasts of all ages are invited to attend free public programs in December offered by the Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve. The programs will be held at the St. Jones Reserve located at 818 Kitts Hummock Road (east of the John Dickinson Plantation) or at the Blackbird Creek Reserve at 801 Blackbird Landing Road in Townsend, Delaware. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. For information and registration, call 302-739-3436, 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Blackbird Habitat Hike
Blackbird Creek Reserve near Townsend

1 - 3 p.m.
Join a naturalist for a 2.5-mile guided hike of the Blackbird Creek Reserve. Explore a variety of habitats along Blackbird Creek and discover how restoration efforts benefit the Reserve. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. No strollers, please.
Pre-School Naturalist - Animals in Winter (ages 3-6)

Bring your preschool child to the St. Jones Reserve for “Animals in Winter." The program will jump-start curious minds and includes a hands-on activity. Parents are encouraged to tag along, but older siblings should find a more age-appropriate activity.
Decorate with Nature

Join us at the St. Jones Reserve and learn how to decorate with nature for the holidays. The John Dickinson Plantation horticulturalist will guide you through ways to decorate your home for the holidays using materials from the great outdoors. Adults only, please.

The program is administered through DNREC’s Division of Soil and Water Conservation in the Delaware Coastal Programs.
