  Nature Programs Offered in March
          Visit the Delaware National Estuarine
                          Research Reserve

Nature enthusiasts of all ages are invited to attend free public programs in March offered by the Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve. The programs are held at the St. Jones Reserve, 818 Kitts Hummock Road in Dover (east of the John Dickinson Plantation) or at the Blackbird Creek Reserve, 801 Blackbird Landing Road in Townsend. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. For information and registration, call 302-739-3436, 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. 

Coastal Heritage Driving Tour
Monday, March 9        10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Join us for a ride along scenic Route 9 to discover Delaware’s natural and historic resources on the Coastal Heritage tour.  Leave the driving to us as you board our touring van.  We will make a stop for lunch along the way.  The tour will meet at the St. Jones Reserve, 818 Kitts Hummock Road in Dover.

Plan Your Native Garden
Saturday, March 21  10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Come explore the world of native plants and learn from an expert.  This wonderful mini-workshop will help you begin to plan a native garden.  Meet at the St. Jones Reserve, 818 Kitts Hummock Road in Dover.

Blackbird Exploration Hike
Friday, March 27    8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Are you ready to get outside and explore Blackbird Creek?  Join a naturalist and hike along the creek and journey through wooded areas, meadow habitats and shrub areas.  Bring your binoculars and be on the look-out for various bird species. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Meet at the Blackbird Creek Reserve, 801 Blackbird Landing Road in Townsend.

The Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve is a partnership between the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).  The program is administered through DNREC’s Division of Soil and Water Conservation in the Delaware Coastal Programs.
