No Child Left Inside Family Fun Festival Set for Sept 27 at Alapocas Run State Park
WILMINGTON, Del. - The staff of Alapocas Run State Park invites the public to help launch Delaware State Parks’ No Child Left Inside campaign with a Family Fun Festival from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the park’s Can-Do Playground. The festival will feature live music, food vendors, geocaching, guided hikes and many other outdoor events.
Delaware Greenways, the Nemours Foundation and Delaware State Parks are partnering for this event to encourage people, especially children, to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle. It is also a chance to explore one of Delaware’s newest parks. The program is offered free of charge; however, park entrance fees are in effect.
More information on this and other healthy lifestyle activities is available on the Delaware State Parks website at www.destateparks.com, Delaware Greenways at www.delawaregreenways.org and Nemours Health & Prevention Services at www.growuphealthy.org. The Wilmington State Park Office has more information about the Family Fun Festival, and can be reached at 302-577-7020.
Alapocas Run State Park, convenient to Route 202 and I-95, features a multi-use trail that connects to the Northern Delaware Greenway, the Can-Do Playground, and the historic Blue Ball Barn, which houses the Delaware Folk Art Collection. The Can-Do Playground is boundary-free and designed to be accessible to children of all abilities. No Child Left Inside is a national initiative to encourage children and families to spend more time in outdoor activities.
