Ommelanden Center announces free practice dates to sharpen hunter’s skills 

NEW CASTLE (Sept. 9, 2011) – Hunters looking to sharpen their skills for hunting season can mark their calendars for three upcoming dates when the Ommelanden Hunter Education Training Center in New Castle will host free sight-in days.

The dates are:

·         Thursday, Oct. 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – muzzleloader

·         Thursday, Nov. 10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – shotgun

·         Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – handgun

“For hunters who want to check out their equipment or practice their skills before heading out to hunt, these three dates are a great opportunity to use our public shooting range for free on days reserved for their use,” said Michael Friel, Hunter Education Administrator.

The Ommelanden Hunter Education Training Center and Public Shooting Range is dedicated to providing Delaware hunters with required hunter education courses and training opportunities. The range is open year round for public use for a small fee from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays. The range includes 25 and 50-meter rifle and pistol ranges, skeet and trap fields and a practice archery field.
