Paranormal Investigations offered at Fort Delaware

DELAWARE CITY (Sept. 16) – Spooky paranormal investigation opportunities at Fort Delaware State Park continue through the fall season, including Sept.18 and 24, and Oct. 2, 9, 15 and 16 at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Paranormal Adventures allows visitors ages 13 and older to participate in an actual investigation of Fort Delaware with Delaware Ghost Hunters, Inc.  Stops will include areas where paranormal activity has been suspected, and investigators will use EMFs, data recorders, and temperature sensors trying to capture unusual sights and sounds.  Visitors are welcome to bring their own equipment as long as it is easy to transport.

Offered as an exclusive opportunity for New Jersey ghost-hunting fans, on Friday, Oct. 8 at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m., the ferry that transports visitors to Fort Delaware for the Paranormal Adventure will depart from the Fort Mott, New Jersey side of the Delaware River only.  All other Paranormal Adventures depart from Delaware City only.

The three-hour program will start with a short introduction at the entrance to the fort, after which groups of 10 will be led by a park interpreter to the various areas of investigation.  The cost per participant is $40. Investigators should dress appropriately for weather and walking; no open-toed shoes. This is a rain or shine program, and will only be canceled in the event of severe weather making the boat ride unsafe.

Additional paranormal programs will also be featured.  For the dedicated ghost hunters, 13 and older, a five-hour Expanded Paranormal Investigation (EPI) is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.  And on Sept. 18, 2:30 – 5 p.m., children ages 8 to 12 can visit the Fort to learn the fundamentals of paranormal investigation.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Fort Delaware State Park is accessible only by ferry. Participants should arrive 30 minutes prior to boat departure to check in at the Fort Delaware dock, 45 Clinton Street, Delaware City, or at Fort Mott for the Oct. 8 adventure. All tour lengths include boat travel time. Registrations may be made by calling 1-877-987-2757 or online at www.destateparks.com.  More information about Fort Delaware is available by calling 302- 834-7941.
