Polly Drummond Hill Road Yard Waste site to reopen temporarily

DOVER (Nov. 30, 2012) –The Polly Drummond Hill Road yard waste demonstration drop-off site will remain open into the foreseeable future and at least through January 2013, subject to approval by the General Assembly, to ease a transition to a new private-public yard waste site, which is more centrally located for use by New Castle County residents and is scheduled to open later this month.

The new site will be staffed and operated by Holland Mulch in partnership with DNREC and is expected to open for yard waste in late January. The site at 1034 S. Chapel Street, Newark – centrally located off Rt. 72 and south of Interstate 95 – will accept Christmas trees only for recycling starting Dec. 26.

Holland Mulch has contractually agreed to accept yard waste from Delaware residents free of charge for five years at the new site. Holland Mulch also operates a successful free yard waste site on Hay Road, near Claymont, that is another alternative for Delaware residents in disposing of yard waste.
