Port Penn Historical Society Hosts Vintage Baseball and Silent Auction
DELAWARE CITY (Oct. 13) - The Port Penn Historical Society and the staff of the Port Penn Interpretive Center invite the public to a Vintage Baseball game and Silent Auction to benefit the Interpretive Center and other Historical Society projects on Sunday, Oct.17 beginning at 1 p.m. The game will feature Delaware’s Diamond State Vintage Base Ball team dressed in 19th century uniforms and playing by 19th century rules.
The game will be played on the field across from the Port Penn Interpretive Center at the corner of Route 9 and Port Penn Road in Port Penn. The Silent Auction will close at the end of the game. Snapping Turtle Soup, a local delicacy, will be served as will hot dogs, sodas and Cracker Jacks. T-shirts will be raffled every half-hour.
There is no admission fee and parking is free for the day. Parking and shuttle service is available at the VFW Post 838, 15 W. Market Street, Port Penn. Participants are urged to bring chairs and blankets.
