Port Penn Interpretive Center Announces August Programs
PORT PENN, Del. – Tucked away along the Delaware River, Port Penn exemplifies the history and culture of Delaware’s maritime communities. Staff at the Port Penn Interpretive Center has planned a series of exciting programs to deliver the port's story to visitors of all ages. Families can come to the center, located on Route 9, just north of Augustine Beach for these free programs:
Delmarva Folktales and Old Time Humor – 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1
Ed Okonowicz presents an evening of stories, jokes, yarns, tall tales and little known events in Delaware history, as well as some downstate, downright silly humor. The program is ideal for family audiences, ages 8 to 80.
Birding Basics – 10:30 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 3
This day is for the birds! Children and adults will learn to identify some of the feathered friends who live in the wetlands along the Delaware River and in their own backyards.
