Portion of Junction and Breakwater Trail at Cape Henlopen State
Park Will Reopen Permanently Beginning Memorial Day Weekend
DNREC’s Division of Parks and Recreation has announced that a 1.5 mile section of the Junction and Breakwater Trail in Cape Henlopen State Park, which has been closed for utility work, will reopen beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 22.
“With summer fast approaching, we invite residents and visitors alike to enjoy the scenic beauty of the full six mile Junction and Breakwater Trail,” said Collin O’Mara, DNREC Secretary. “Reopening the trail for Memorial Day weekend has required a real cooperative effort, and we are grateful for the community’s patience as we completed important repairs.”
The closure of the 1.5 mile section of the trail north of Wolfe Neck Road was to accommodate construction of a new sewer line for Sussex County’s Wolfe Neck Treatment Plant, to improve sewer service in the Lewes area.
