Public workshop on proposed amendments to
scrap tire regulations set for Monday, August 5
DOVER (July 24, 2013) – All interested persons are invited to attend a public workshop on proposed amendments to the State of Delaware’s scrap tire regulations, which are under jurisdiction of DNREC’s Division of Waste & Hazardous Substances. The scrap tire regulations workshop is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 5, at DNREC’s Richardson & Robbins Auditorium, 89 Kings Highway, Dover, DE 19901, from 1 - 3 p.m.
New scrap tire regulations will be amendments to Delaware’s Regulations Governing Solid Waste (DRGSW). The proposed regulations will affect any site containing 100 or more scrap tires, for which the owner does not hold a valid resource recovery permit or other approval issued by DNREC pursuant to solid waste regulations. The workshop will cover the maximum number of tires allowed at a site, siting and design standards for scrap tire sites, mosquito control options, operational requirements, financial assurance (which is required for larger scrap tire piles), and closure procedures for sites.
The proposed amendments to the state’s scrap tire regulations can be found on the DNREC website at http://www.dnrec.delaware.gov/Info/Pages/Rules.aspx
To register for the informational workshop, please contact Tara Grazier of the Solid & Hazardous Waste Management Section at (302) 739-9403.
