Recycling Public Advisory Council to meet Monday, June 23 in New Castle

DOVER (June 19, 2014) – The Recycling Public Advisory Council (RPAC) will meet from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Monday, June 23 at the Delaware Solid Waste Authority’s Environmental Education Building located at 1101 Lambson Lane, New Castle DE 19720.

Topics on the agenda include:

·                     Call to order, introductions 

·                     Public Comments (20-minute cap, priority given to written comments)  

·                     Approval of minutes from May 21, 2014 Meetin

·                     AYard waste funding/site updates

·                     RPAC membership vacancies 

·                     Next grant cycle planning 

·                     Scheduling future meetings 

·                     Recycling market update 

·                     Old/new business  

·                     Additional public comments 

·                     Adjourn 

Prior to the meeting, at 12:45 pm the Recycling Public Advisory Council will be touring the ReCommunity and Revolution Recovery operations at the Delaware Solid Waste Authority’s Delaware Recycling Center (at the same address:1101 Lambsons Lane, New Castle DE 19720). Limited space is available for public participation in the tour. Anyone interested should contact Bill Miller at prior to Monday to reserve a spot. The RPAC meeting will begin immediately following the tour.

The Recycling Public Advisory Council was enacted into state law by Senate Bill 234 in May 2010 and charged with advising the Governor’s Office, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, and the Delaware Solid Waste Authority on all aspects of recycling, including development of grant criteria and selection of applications; a methodology for measuring recycling rates; and possible outreach activities designed to achieve higher recycling rates.
