Register now for “Venture Outdoors Fest” at Lums Pond State Park
BEAR (April 13, 2015) – A vast array of outdoor recreational activities are available in Delaware’s state parks in the Spring. At Lums Pond State Park, from Friday, May 15 through Sunday, May 17, the popular Venture Outdoors Fest will showcase them all. Registration is now open for the festival, which takes place twice each year in different state parks in order to highlight each park’s amenities.
At this year’s Venture Outdoors Fest, multiple activities will be offered, such as stand-up paddle boarding, zip-lining, horseback riding, hayrides, rock climbing and more. Participants also have the option of camping out for one or two nights free of charge.
Lunch and dinner will be provided on May 16, as well as breakfast on May 17. Adult beverage samples will be provided to those 21 and older. Live music will be offered on Friday and Saturday nights, in addition to s’mores around the campfire.
“Spending time outdoors has been proven to make people happier and healthier,” said DNREC Division of Parks and Recreation Director Ray Bivens. “By hosting events like Venture Outdoors Fest, we hope to introduce more people to nature so they can experience these benefits. Venture Outdoors Fest is a great opportunity for young adults to learn more about the outdoors.”
Free tent camping will be available from May 15 at 6 p.m. through May 17 at 10 a.m., and all activities will take place on May 16. All attendees must be at least 18 years old. Tickets are $50 per person, and include all meals, activities and games, music, camping and a t-shirt. Tickets sales are open from now until May 13.
If participants wish to add the park’s GoApe Treetop Adventure to their itinerary, the cost is an additional $37. Tickets are also available for a trip to the Delaware Rock Gym. Ticket sales for these activities are open now until May 1.
All tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite. For more information on Venture Outdoors Fest, visit destateparks.com/vfest or contact Riley Hays at 302-739-9249, Riley.Hays@state.de.us.
