River Crossing Tour Offered by Fort Delaware State Park
DELAWARE CITY (Oct. 20) – See history come alive on a tour along the Delaware River aboard the Three Forts Ferry during Military Heritage weekend at Fort DuPont and Fort Mott on Oct. 23. The ferry departs from Delaware City hourly from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The ferry will stop at Fort Mott one half-hour after it leaves Delaware City.
At Fort DuPont in Delaware City, events begin at 10 a.m. with a parade through Delaware City and into Fort DuPont. At Fort DuPont, visitors may tour encampments from different time periods, see vintage military vehicles, listen to patriotic and traditional American music, experience military maneuvers and firing artillery. Delaware City will provide a tram to transport passengers from Delaware City to Fort DuPont. Reservations are encouraged.
At Fort Mott, New Jersey, visitors will be guided throughout the day by uniformed reenactors to see gun emplacements, powder magazines, shot rooms and structures erected more than 100 years ago. Veterans will be recounting stories of their first hand experiences. There are picnic areas, picnic tables and shelters throughout the park.

Participants should arrive 30 minutes prior to boat departure to check in at the Fort Delaware dock, 45 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE 19706 or at Fort Mott in New Jersey.
