DNREC reminds residents that ocean dunes
in state parks are closed to sledding, snowboarding

With snow in the forecast for the weekend, the DNREC Division of Parks and Recreation is asking the public to help protect the dunes in Delaware’s ocean parks by reminding residents and visitors that dunes should not be used for sledding or snowboarding.

Dunes contain fragile habitat and provide protection for the beaches and the communities that border them. Recent storms have already caused some damage this winter.

Except for marked crossings, dunes are closed year-round to pedestrian traffic and activities in Cape Henlopen and Delaware Seashore state parks.
