State Park Rangers investigation into vehicle break-ins leads to arrest of New Castle man
WILMINGTON (Aug. 2, 2011) – An investigation by Delaware State Park Rangers into a series of vehicle break-ins over the last two months at Bellevue, Brandywine Creek and Alapocas Run state parks in the Wilmington area concluded on July 29 with an arrest.
Rangers were able to track usage of stolen credit cards to various gas stations in the areas near the Parks and use surveillance photos and video from the parks and businesses in the investigation.
William D. Pierce, age 41, of New Castle, was arrested and charged with six counts of third degree burglary, five counts of criminal mischief, six counts of theft and 11 counts of unlawful use of a credit card.
Pierce was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 20 in Wilmington, and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington in lieu of $11,500 secured bond, pending a trial at a later date.
