State Wildlife Areas cleared of debris
and ready for opening day of hunting season

DOVER (Aug. 31, 2011) – DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife crews have been busy this week clearing fallen trees and other debris left in the wake of Hurricane Irene from wildlife areas statewide in preparation for opening day of fall hunting season today.

“All areas have been checked and any potential hazards that could affect hunters in the wildlife areas have been removed, so all of our wildlife areas are open today for the start of dove and archery deer season,” said Wildlife Section Administrator Greg Moore.

Wildlife areas statewide were closed for safety reasons last weekend during Hurricane Irene.
