“Thank You Delaware Bay” Spotlights Little Creek
Delaware Bay Communities to be Featured
Visit the “Thank You Delaware Bay” website, www.ThankYouDelawareBay.org, and discover one of the state’s fascinating and often-overlooked communities that lies along the Delaware Bay – the town of Little Creek, located east of Dover on Route 9. Beginning in June, the web site will showcase the bay’s many natural and historic places to explore and enjoy.
“Spotlight on Little Creek” is the first in a series of communities to be featured on the “Thank You Delaware Bay” web site, said Kimberly Cole, Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve manager. “Our 'Spotlight' series highlights the history, culture and natural beauty of bay communities and features unique accounts by residents of life in Delaware’s towns along the bay. We hope people will visit the web site, discover our many bay communities, and find out how they can help protect the bay’s health and resources.”
The “Thank You Delaware Bay” web site was designed to showcase the beauty and amenities of the bay, raise awareness, and encourage the public to take actions. Developed by program partners, Division of Soil and Water Conservation, Delaware Coastal Programs, The Nature Conservancy, and the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, the web site challenges citizens to learn more, get involved, be heard, and take steps to help protect the bay.
The site serves as a portal for information and links to environmental organizations. People can get involved, join an organization, volunteer on a program, and report pollution impacts and threats to bay animals and marine life. The website includes links to other state and federal sites where people can learn more about policy work and pending legislation that affect the bay.
“Thank You Delaware Bay” is made possible, in part, through funding from the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control through a grant from the Delaware Coastal Programs with funding from the Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
