Paranormal Adventures at Fort Delaware
DELAWARE CITY (Sept. 19, 2013) – The very popular Paranormal Adventures program returns to Fort Delaware this fall. Visitors will get a taste of the paranormal investigative experience with the help of the Diamond State Ghost Investigators, a volunteer group leading the program. Participants assist the ghost hunters in investigating various areas of Fort Delaware where paranormal activity has been suspected, along with experienced investigators. Visitors are welcome to bring their own equipment as long as it is easily transported.
Visitors leave from the Delaware City dock on Sept. 27, Oct. 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, and 25 at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. and on Oct. 26 at 6:30 p.m. On Oct. 27, die-hard ghost hunters can experience an extended Paranormal Investigation from 9:30 p.m. until 2:30 a.m., also leaving from the Delaware City dock. Paranormal programs are for adults and children 12 and over.
Areas of Pea Patch Island’s Civil War fortress to be investigated include the mess hall, officer's kitchen, ordnance room area, officer’s kitchen and the west end of the Endicott section. The evening will start with a short introduction at the entrance to the fort, after which small groups will be led by a park interpreter to the various areas of investigation.
The three-hour investigations (including boat travel time to the fort) are available by reservation only and usually sell out. The cost per participant is $40. Participants should dress appropriately for weather and walking; no open-toed shoes. This is a rain or shine program and will only be canceled in the event of severe weather making the boat ride unsafe. The Extended Paranormal Adventure cost is $100 per person.
Reservations may be made by calling 1-877-987-2757 or online at destateparks.com. More information about Fort Delaware is available by calling 302-834-7941.
