Tickets still available for Kent Conservation District’s
16th Annual Barn Dance fundraiser on Oct. 9
Annual FUN-draiser benefits Delaware Envirothon

DOVER (Sept. 29, 2015) – Tickets are still available for the Kent Conservation District’s 16th Annual Barn Dance fundraiser, to be held from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday evening, Oct. 9. The rompin', stompin' event will be held at the Harrington Fire Company. Activities include a down-home barbecue pork and chicken dinner, live and silent benefit auctions and dancing to music provided by Affinity Entertainment of Dover.

Be prepared to kick up your heels for a night of FUNdraising, with tickets on sale for $20 per person or $35 per couple. Children 12 years and under are $10 each, while children under age 2 are free. Reserved tables with seating for eight are available for $150.

The Barn Dance supports the Delaware Envirothon, a problem-solving, competitive natural resource challenge for high school students. Envirothon goals are to broaden environmental knowledge of high school students and cultivate a desire to learn more about their natural world. Students are tested on the following topics: air quality, soils/land use, aquatic ecology, forestry, wildlife and a current environmental issue.

Experience gained through the competition prepares individual students and teams to make savvy conservation decisions. The 2015 Delaware Envirothon champions from the Charter School of Wilmington recently returned from Springfield, Mo., where they competed in the NCF Envirothon against teams from across the U.S. and Canada, and brought home an 8th place finish out of 52 teams.

A limited number of tickets are available and can be purchased by mail or in person at the Kent Conservation District office at 800 Bay Road, Suite 2, Dover, DE 19901. For more information, please call the Kent Conservation District at 302-741-2600 ext. 3.
