Time still remains to recycle 2011-2012 Christmas trees;
Trees are no longer accepted at Delaware State Parks

DOVER (Jan. 17, 2012) – DNREC reminds Delawareans that there is still more than a week remaining to recycle old Christmas trees by dropping the trees off at one of the many yard waste recycling facilities throughout the state the will accept them for free through January 27. DNREC also reiterates that Delaware State Parks are not accepting trees for recycling this year. DNREC has, however, arranged for other outlets to take your Christmas trees with convenience in mind for recycling.

While Delaware State Parks no longer take in Christmas trees, many options for recycling them exist throughout the state, including waste haulers and landscapers. Your regular trash hauler also may offer a one-time collection for Christmas trees in January, and Kent County will collect Christmas trees through January 20 (on your regular trash day) for people in a trash district that has yard waste collection service.

For a partial listing of entities that collect Christmas Trees and other yard waste, go to: www.dnrec.delaware.gov/yardwaste and click “Yard waste collection options.”
