Time Running Out to Register for Fish Hawk Challenge
Adventure Race at Cape Henlopen State Park

LEWES, Del. - There are only a few spaces left for the kick-off event in the 2009 Delaware State Parks Adventure Race Series. The Fish Hawk Challenge, for teams or individuals, begins with a pre-race meeting at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 30 at Cape Henlopen State Park.

Participants will have the chance to test their strength and skills kayaking the Delaware Bay, running on the beach, and taking on team challenges. The race fee is $27 for registrations received on or before Friday, May 15, and $40 from May 16 through race day. Prizes will be awarded in different categories.

This is the fourth season for the Adventure Race Series, which is designed for athletes of any skill level. A total of five races are scheduled for 2009 at parks throughout the state. Individuals interested in participating may enter three races for the discounted price of $70 or all five for $100.

After the series opens with the Fish Hawk Challenge, it continues with Clash with the Creek at Brandywine Creek State Park on June 20. The third race is the ever-popular Kickin’ It at Killens on July 18 at Killens Pond State Park. The series continues with the Millpond Challenge at Lums Pond State Park on Aug. 8, followed by the final race in the series - Bring It on at Bellevue, on Sept. 12 at Bellevue State Park.

Sponsors include the Friends of Cape Henlopen for the Fish Hawk Challenge and the Friends of Brandywine Creek for the Clash with the Creek. Interested families and individuals can find information at www.destateparks.com/adventurerace, or by calling 302-284-4299.
