Tonight’s DNREC hearing on proposed scrap tire
amendments cancelled; rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 9
DOVER (Jan. 26, 2015) – DNREC has cancelled a public hearing scheduled for tonight on the Solid & Hazardous Waste Management Section’s proposal to add scrap tire facility management provisions to Delaware Regulations Governing Solid Waste. The hearing was to have taken place at the DNREC Auditorium, but has been rescheduled at the same location for Monday, Feb. 9, starting at 6 p.m.
The proposed amendments will enable the SHWMS to have oversight on the management of scrap tires, including limiting the amount of tires allowed to be accumulated in one area, providing environmental and human health protection via siting restrictions and mosquito control, and providing a mechanism of financial responsibility so that the cost of scrap tire removal falls on the scrap tire generator as opposed to the public. The proposed amendments can be found on the DNREC website at http://www.dnrec.delaware.gov/Info/Pages/Rules.aspx
The public may also view the proposed amendments Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at DNREC’s Richardson & Robbins Building, 89 Kings Highway, Dover (302) 739-9403. To register for handout materials at the rescheduled public hearing, please contact Bethany Fiske, Solid & Hazardous Waste Management Section, 302-739-9403.
