Two men arrested for hunting illegally on a state refuge

NEWPORT (Jan. 13, 2011) – Following an investigation, DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife Enforcement agents on Jan. 12 arrested two men on charges of weapons and hunting violations on wildlife lands near Newport.

Don E. Bryant, age 53, of Wilmington, was arrested and charged with three felony counts of possession of weapons/ammunition by a person prohibited, one count of trespassing to hunt and one count of hunting on a refuge. His shotgun and ammunition were seized as evidence. Bryant was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court No. 11 in New Castle and released on $11,000 bond pending trial in Superior Court.

Charles D. Adams, age 48, of Wilmington, was arrested and charged with trespassing to hunt and hunting on a state refuge. He was fined and released.

Citizens are encouraged to report fish and wildlife violations to the Delaware Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Section at 302-739-4580.
