Two men guilty of illegal crabbing

Two Delaware men pleaded guilty Aug. 26 in Justice of the Peace Court 9 to multiple crabbing violations. Donald P. Grier, 55, and Albert J. Cable, 54, were arrested after Fish & Wildlife Enforcement officers observed them illegally tending crab pots.

Grier, of 3004 Court Street, Claymont, pled guilty to possession of undersize crabs, tending from a vessel a crab pot with a different color code, improperly-marked crab pots and tending a commercial crab pot that belonged to another crabber. He also was cited for not having a required number of personal flotation devices on board his boat. He was fined $394 plus court costs.

Cable, of 29 Main Street, Townsend, pled guilty to tending unmarked crab pots and was fined $76.50 plus court costs.
