Volunteers Needed for April 26 Planting Event
in Silver Lake Revitalization Project
There’s still time for volunteers to sign up to help with phase 1 of the Silver Lake Revitalization Project at Silver Lake Park in Dover from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26. The rain date will be May 10.
The joint project between The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Watershed Assessment Section and the City of Dover kicked off last summer with a public workshop and input from park neighbors to map out two-year restoration plan that involves planting trees, flowers and shrubs along the St. Jones River in order to improve water quality and protect the stream banks.
Volunteers should plan to meet in the Silver Lake parking lot, located off of Kings Highway in Dover. Volunteers may bring their own gardening gloves. Lunch, beverages and equipment will be provided.
Volunteers are asked to sign up in advance by Monday, April 14. To sign up as a volunteer or for more information, please contact Alison Boyer, Watershed Assessment Section, at 302-739-9939 or 302-233-5767.
