Wilmington man charged with illegal possession of egg-bearing blue crabs

NEWARK (April 25, 2011) – Division of Fish & Wildlife enforcement officers arrested Jung T. Sun April 23 and charged him with 22 counts of possession of egg-bearing blue crabs that he was offering for sale at the Newark Farmers Market.

The arrest came after a tip to enforcement officers that the market was offering sooks, or female crabs, in its seafood section managed by Mr. Sun. Delaware law forbids any possession of egg-bearing crabs, regardless of where they originated or how they were obtained.

Mr. Sun, 53, of 17 Kristina Court, Wilmington, was fined $1,320 and released.

Citizens are encouraged to report fish and wildlife violations to the Fish & Wildlife Enforcement Section at 302-739-4580.
