LEWES (Dec. 12, 2013) – Winter Break is a great time for families to visit Cape Henlopen State Park and take in fun and interesting programs at the Seaside Nature Center.

Programs are offered on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 26 – 28 at 11 a.m. for ages 5 and up. Space for these programs is limited; reservations can be made by calling 302-645-6852. Children of all ages will enjoy nature center programs on Dec. 26, 27 and 28 at 2 p.m.

On Thursday, Dec. 26 at 11 a.m.: Learn how animals spend the winter in the Cold-Blooded Animals program. Meet reptiles and other creatures. The program costs $2 per person.

On Friday, Dec. 27:  Families can learn all about winter birds in Feed the Birds: Eco-Friendly Solutions. It can be tough for birds to survive the winter, so visitors will create some treats to help the birds out. All materials will be provided. This program costs $2 per person.

On Saturday, Dec. 28: Squid Dissection! Explore the insides and outsides of this unique mollusk through a hands-on dissection. This program costs $5 per person.

In the afternoon, staff presents Holiday Feeding Frenzy. See the nature center’s fish and other sea creatures being fed. These programs are free and fun for all ages.

The Seaside Nature Center is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Borrow-A-Bike program is available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. when the Nature Center is open, weather permitting.
