Yard Waste Drop-off Sites for Use by New Castle County Residents Only
Landscapers and Businesses Prohibited from Using Sites
DNREC’s Solid and Hazardous Waste Section wants to remind landscapers and other businesses that they are prohibited from disposing yard waste at the three community yardwaste demonstration sites in New Castle County. The sites were developed as one of many options to help New Castle County residents manage their own yard wastes
William (Chip) McDaniel, Chief of DNREC’s Environmental Crimes Unit, warns that Environmental Protection Officers are on the lookout for violators and will be citing those landscapers and businesses who dispose of yard waste at the sites. Penalties range from $100 to $500 in fines, plus a criminal record. To report yard waste disposal at one of the sites by a business or landscaper, call the 24-hour hotline in Delaware at 1-800-662-8802. Verizon wireless customers in Delaware can call, toll free: #DNR (367).
Yard waste at the sites is periodically ground into mulch that individuals can take for free. The mulch is available to New Castle County residents only.
