Oil Filter Recycling Program - Guide for Businesses

Question: I own a repair business, which collects many used oil filters. How can I dispose of them?
Answer: There are several companies that can provide disposal of used oil filters from businesses in Delaware.

Q: Why should we recycle used oil filters and the motor oil they contain?
A:
Used oil contains contaminants such as arsenic, cadmium, benzene, lead, magnesium, zinc, and chlorinated compounds, which may be harmful to the environment. Used oil also provides a very good source of energy. We not only cause environmental pollution, we waste energy when we discard used oil into the environment. As oil filters are made of steel, North America’s most recycled material, the metal from the oil filters is easily recycled into new steel products.
