 Delaware’s ENERGY STAR Program

Delaware Governor Ruth Ann Minner signed the partnership with the ENERGY STAR Program Feb. 27, 2004. The partnership is an agreement with the US Department of Energy (DOE) and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), who jointly run the ENERGY STAR program, to use the ENERGY STAR mark to promote energy efficiency as an easy and desirable option for organizations and consumers to prevent pollution, protect the global environment, and save on energy bills.

Delaware’s ENERGY STAR New Homes Program

The Delaware ENERGY STAR New Homes Program is a partnership with ENERGY STAR Builders that build in the state of Delaware. The purpose of this program is to educate Delaware residents on the benefits of living in high energy-efficient homes that carry the ENERGY STAR Qualified label.  ENERGY STAR Qualified New Homes are built to exceed our state’s energy code (International Energy Conservation Code, 2000) by 15 percent. What this means to you is that you are getting a superior quality home that increases your overall comfort and decreases energy consumption. To learn more about the ENERGY STAR New Homes Program and how a new home qualifies, click here. To find a Delaware ENERGY STAR partner builder, click here

ENERGY STAR for Schools Program

The DEO has been working with Delaware School Districts to help them with their energy efficiency efforts. Delaware’s School Districts have been very proactive in trying to provide their students with a high-quality, comfortable learning environment while increasing their school’s efficiency, with exceedingly tight budget constraints. Some school districts have tapped into the ENERGY STAR Program resources by becoming ENERGY STAR Partners.
