The ARE Center and Mallard Lodge are located along scenic Route 9, about 5 miles north of the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge and 2 miles north of the 4-way stop sign intersection of Routes 9 and 6.

Directions:

From North via DE Route 1/Route 13 South

·         Take North Smyrna Exit 119A from Route 1 and merge onto Route 13 South.

·         Turn left onto DE Route 6/East Commerce Street (Wendy’s Restaurant on the corner).

·         Continue on DE Route 6 East/East Commerce Street, approximately 2 miles.

·         Turn left onto Road 82/Lighthouse Road.

·         Continue on Lighthouse Road, bearing right at the fork, approximately 3 miles. The new Aquatic Resources Education Center will be at the end of the gravel drive on right.

·         To reach the large parking lot, drive past the AREC entrance and turn right on Route 9; parking lot will be approximately one-third of a mile down Route 9 on the right.

From South via DE Route 1/Route 13 NorthThe new DNREC Aquatic Resources Education Center

·         Take South Smyrna Exit 114 from Route 1 and merge onto Route 13 North.

·         Turn right onto DE Route 6/East Commerce Street (Wendy’s Restaurant on the corner).

·         Continue on DE Route 6 East/East Commerce Street, approximately 2 miles.

·         Turn left onto Road 82/Lighthouse Road.

·         Continue on Lighthouse Road, bearing right at the fork, approximately 3 miles. The new Aquatic Resources Education Center will be on gravel drive on right.

·         To reach the large parking lot, drive past the AREC entrance and turn right on Route 9; parking lot will be approximately one-third of a mile down Route 9 on the right 

NOTE: For a scenic drive along the Bayshore Byway, Route 9 is an alternate route that can be taken from north or south; watch for possible tidal or weather-related flooding at bridges.
