Training description: The Bat Spotters Training is for volunteers interested in participating in locating and counting the state's bat colonies for the annual Delaware Bat Count. Weather-permitting, the training will be followed by a visit to a bat maternity colony site for a count demonstration from 7:30 -9 p.m.

Beachnesting Bird Program Volunteer Training
Training description: Interested in learning about birds that nest on Delaware's beaches and how the State is working to protect them? Beachnesting Bird Program volunteers help to educate the beach-going public about beachnesting birds (especially piping plovers) and the importance of protecting nesting sites. Volunteers should be able to walk to monitoring stations on the beach, which can be as far as a 1/2-mile away from parking areas. This training will provide instruction for interacting with the public and answering questions about piping plovers and other beachnesting birds.

Peace, Love & Horseshoe Crab Festival!
At the DuPont Nature Center

Event description: This annual event brings together children, families, community members and nature center visitors in celebration of the Mispillion Harbor and it's importance as a habitat for horseshoe crabs and migratory shorebirds. Children may participate in environmental eco-stations, birders can view this migratory phenomenon from the deck, and visitors can check out the wildlife and displays in the nature center! There's fun to be had by all!
Volunteers are needed to assist nature center staff with the following activities:
- Set up/Tear Down
- Volunteer/Information Table
- Parking/Traffic Control
- Nature Center Attendants
Volunteer shifts include: Morning (9 a.m. - 1 p.m.) and afternoon (12:30 - 3:30 p.m.)
Age requirement: While this event is open to visitors of all ages, volunteers under the age of 18 must provide a parental consent form. Volunteers under the age of 15 must also be accompanied by an adult.
