spearheads TrashStoppers campaign
to curtail illegal dumping in Delaware
With DNREC's Environmental Crimes Unit manning a network of surveillance cameras and reaching out to citizens for help in cleaning up Delaware, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has launched the “TrashStoppers” campaign as the next phase of the agency’s strategy to curtail and eliminate illegal trash dumping throughout the state. The two men in the adjacent photo were caught in the act by TrashStoppers surveillance cameras as they illegally dumped bags of trash on North Hay Road near Wilmington. An eyewitness to the dumping incident also took down the vehicle's license plate number and telephoned DNREC's Environmental Crimes Unit, resulting in a guilty plea, a fine, and community service for the illegal trash dumpers.
