This trail plan for Thompson Island Nature Preserve shows the existing trail and proposed improvements to repair current deficiencies, address safety issues, and make the trail ADA-compliant. The proposed improvements include hardening the trail surface with stone for the first ¾ mile, a new boardwalk to replace the often-flooded existing structure, a new boardwalk/vista observation deck, and a new 3-car parking lot for use by park staff and by special arrangement.
