Delaware Bay Beach Work Group

Purpose: This group was formed in 2010 by then-DNREC Secretary Collin O’Mara for the purpose of examining issues such as beach erosion, marsh drainage and other related issues in the Delaware Bay Beach communities, resulting in recommendations, both short and long term, for how the State of Delaware and other levels of government might address these problems. The group originated after Sec. O’Mara and DNREC staff met with State Legislators who represent the bay beach areas. All the aforementioned issues have been developing for some time and in certain cases are reaching a crisis level.

Economic Analysis:

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson’s assistance to DNREC in performing an economic analysis of shoreline management alternatives is a phased project. The outcomes of initial parts of the study affect the scope of required services for the study's subsequent phases. DNREC has issued task orders to JMT for Phases 1 and 1A of the economic analysis.
