DuPont Nature Center Volunteers

Become a DuPont Nature Center Volunteer!

Location: DuPont Nature Center at the Mispillion Harbor Reserve
                   2992 Lighthouse Rd.
                   Milford, DE 19963

Description: Do you have a love of the outdoors and an interest in environmental education and conservation? Join the staff and volunteers at the DuPont Nature Center and discover the unique beauty of the Mispillion Harbor. The DuPont Nature Center is seeking volunteers to assist with facility care and with environmental education programs and events. Training will be provided.

Age Requirement: Volunteers must be 18 or older.

Christina River Watershed CleanupChristina River Watershed Clean-up Volunteers
Saturday, April 12           8 a.m. - noon     Rain or Shine

Location: Northern New Castle County - 12 sites from North Wilmington to Glasgow

Project Description: During this annual cleanup, volunteers pick up trash within the watershed, and along shorelines by land and boat, along the Christina River, White Clay Creek, Naamans Creek, and various tributaries.

Age requirement: Due to insurance requirements, volunteers under the age of 16 must have adult supervision.

What to Bring/Wear: Participants should wear brightly colored clothing, long sleeves and pants, boots or water-resistant shoes, hats, heavy-duty gloves, insect repellent and sunscreen. Waders or hip boots are also helpful for some sites. Trash bags, gloves, water and snacks will be provided. Participants will receive a free 2014 Cleanup t-shirt designed by a Delaware student.

Project Description: Join Delaware Wild Lands for a volunteer day to restore native wildlife habitat and forests at Delaware Wilde Lands' 430-acre Sharp Farm property. Volunteers will be removing invasive plants that are spreading around and throughout the forest understory and scenic river bluffs, negatively impacting native animal and plant communities there.

What to Bring/Wear: Work gloves, tools and water will be provided. Dress for the weather.
