DuPont Nature Center - Spring Cleanup Day

Description: The DuPont Nature Center in Milford has been closed for the winter and will be re-opening to the public on April 16, 2016. Fish & Wildlife is looking for assistance with re-opening projects as well as some minor construction and grounds maintenance projects to cleanup/repair damages from winter storm Jonas. Spring Cleanup Day projects include: exhibit and tank set-up, deck maintenance, clearing sand/debris from sidewalks, replacing sandbags, planting beach grass, and cleaning the center and the surrounding grounds.
There are two volunteer shifts. Lunch will be provided for volunteers attending both shifts.
Age Requirement: Volunteers under the age of 18 must provide a parental consent form. Volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Take a Kid Fishing! & Family Fishing Programs

Training Description: The kids fishing programs with the Division of Fish & Wildlife are fun and easy - you do not need to have any special knowledge of fishing in order to volunteer with us. We have some volunteers who are avid anglers and others who prefer to help the kids with activities such as knot tying or fish printing. There is something for everyone who would like to get outdoors and join other volunteers in a great program for kids!
Other Requirements: Volunteers 16 years and older must have a current Delaware fishing license to fish. For volunteers seeking information on how to obtain a fishing license, please visit the Division of Fish & Wildlife's Recreational Licenses & Permits webpage.

Christina River Watershed CleanupSaturday, April 9 8 a.m. - noon Rain or Shine
Location: Northern New Castle County - sites from North Wilmington to Glasgow

Project Description: During this annual cleanup, volunteers pick up trash within the watershed, and along shorelines by land and boat, along the Christina River, White Clay Creek, Naamans Creek, and various tributaries.
Age requirement: Due to insurance requirements, volunteers under the age of 16 must have adult supervision.
What to Bring/Wear: Participants should wear brightly colored clothing, long sleeves and pants, boots or water-resistant shoes, hats, heavy-duty gloves, insect repellent and sunscreen. Waders or hip boots are also helpful for some sites. Trash bags, gloves, water and snacks will be provided. Participants will receive a free 2016 Cleanup t-shirt designed by a Delaware student.
