Volunteers assisting with trash clean-ups and invasive plant removal.Cedar Swamp Winter Clean-up
A 2013 Governor's Week of Service Project!
 
Saturday, January 12      9 - 11 a.m.
                
Location: Cedar Swamp Wildlife Area
                 *Meet at the check station parking lot on Collins Beach Rd.

Project Description: Multiple projects will be available during this clean-up, including roadside trash clean-ups and invasive plant removals. Spend a morning outside with us as we give the Cedar Swamp Wildlife Area a good winter clean-up!

What to bring/wear: Work gloves, tools and water will be provided, but volunteers may bring their own.

Age requirement: Volunteers under the age of 18 must provide a parental consent form. An adult must accompany volunteers under the age of 16.

DuPont Nature Center on the Mispillion HarborDuPont Nature Center Winter Work Day
A 2013 Governor's Week of Service Project!
 
Saturday, January 12      1 - 3 p.m.
                
Location: DuPont Nature Center
                   2992 Lighthouse Rd.
                   Milford, DE 19963

Project Description: A variety of projects will be available during DNC's first Winter Work Day, including nature center and deck maintenance, hurricane Sandy parking lot clean-up, picnic table construction, and roadside/marsh trash clean-up. Spend an afternoon at the Mispillion Harbor and join us for these great winter projects! 

What to bring/wear: Work gloves, tools and water will be provided, but volunteers may bring their own.

Removing invasive boxwood shrubs.Cedar Swamp's Bye Bye Boxwood!
A 2013 Governor's Week of Service Project!

Sunday, January 20      1 - 3 p.m.
                
Location: Cedar Swamp Wildlife Area - Vogel Tract   View Map

Project description: Ornamental boxwood shrubs are stifling native wildlife habitat at this Cedar Swamp Wildlife Area site by outcompeting native plants and taking over the understory. Volunteers will be using hand saws, pruners and loppers to remove the shrubs. Join us as we work to open the understory from these invasive plants!

What to bring/wear: Work gloves, hand saws, pruners and loppers will be provided, but volunteers may bring their own.

Age requirement: Volunteers for this project must be at least 15 years old. Those under the age of 18 must provide a parental consent form. An adult must accompany volunteers under the age of 16.
