REPLENISH is a community-education and economic-revitalization project that encourages the recovery of organic materials from area restaurants to produce compost that is used at local farms.
Replenish is also a collaboration with waste haulers and composters who reclaim organic table scraps from restaurants and then recycle this material back to farmers through the creation of compost. The compost fertilizes the produce that farmers grow locally, which is then marketed back to the restaurants.
Replenish is a DNREC-recognized self-certifying program, originating through and sponsored by Eden Delmarva. Businesses are qualified to participate in the Replenish program by reclaiming valuable organic material rather than landfilling it; by creating compost, and/or by using this compost to produce local agricultural products.
Eden Delmarva encourages sustainability, respect for the environment, and the creation of green jobs through the recovery and use of renewable resources. To demonstrate viable economic models that are in harmony with the environment, Eden Delmarva's project, Replenish, is funded by Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Regional Greenhouse Gas Reduction Initiative, The Longwood Foundation, and Constellation Energy’s EcoStar Grant Program.

Participating haulers, restaurants, and farmers in the program would then be qualified to be a part of Replenish. They will be included in the programs’ educational community outreach efforts, and profiled on the Replenish website, DNREC’s site and elsewhere. The community can then assess these participants and choose to support those who perform the “green” activities and practices that they value.
